So I was talking to a friend of mine this evening who does a lot of work on Capitol Hill and mentioned the Mike Schwartz "all pornography is gay" story. She wasn't familiar with Schwartz and assumed that I was talking about Coburn's Legislative Director Roland Foster, who is universally reputed to be gay. Coburn is, as we all know viciously and crazily homophobic -- the man concerned about the rampant lesbianism running amok in Oklahoma's public schools. (He inexplicably refused my offer to go on a bipartisan fact finding mission.)
I know it has been covered over and over again, and yet, I continue to find it amazing how many of elite Republican Hill staffers are gay, see e.g. Santorum's former Communications Director and John McCain's former Chief of Staff. There is something so sad and disturbing about these guys -- the level of denial and self-hatred must be a truly toxic mix.
