"The Boy with the Thorn in his Side" - The Smiths
One of the great soaring guitar riffs of all time -- the live version far outstrips the studio one methinks. And wonderful, simple direct lyrics -- "how can they see the love in our eyes and still they don't believe us.".
Saw the indy movie "Wendy and Lucy" tonight -- I think I've had more fun slitting my wrists. It's a small movie that does not worry unduly about pandering to its audience. It's actually a pretty finely wrought miniature on the one hand -- on the other I guess I've always been pretty convinced that being really poor and homeless was bleak. Curious if anyone else has seen it and what their thoughts were. It's the kind of movie that I'd like to like more -- but damn, "slumdog millionaire" was about bleak poverty too and it had a few laughs nonetheless.
