very interesting, oddjob. i'd love for the senate to take care of its own rules business, but we've got 3 branches of government for a reason; and i'm in favor of finding some route to getting rid of the filibuster abuse.
Oh please. Watching RNC. Someone tell me how women can sign on to this horsesh*t.?
Nikki, Ann, and now Christie and his mom. Fuckitty fuck. Groan and argh. Twenty-something folks in our shabby family room are throwing things figuratively. Plus yelling. Christie, and Mitt, part of the greatest generation, fighting Nazi tyranny. Whoa. Really.
Well that was an hour or so ago. But still. Who are these people? Now the wisdom and anlysis of Bwokaw and David Gregory gracing the air. Jehebus, why on earth am I paying a cable bill?
so, what does this mean? if the ron paul supporters are so pissed off at romney, does that mean they swing toward obama? or that they sit out the general election? either way seems OK to me.
nancy, my cousin "liked" romney on facebook yesterday. i just don't get it -- this is the wild cousin, who got herself legally emancipated and moved in with a guy when she was 15. she has two daughters. she ought to get it about reproductive rights, if nothing else. her own mother (my fabulous aunt) dropped out of the GOP years ago, on grounds of batshitedness in the party line.
and, more WTF from the GOP convention. balloon juice notes that not only were they yelling USA at the representative from puerto rico, but some appear to be yelling, "go back home." nice job.
kathy a., did you see where two attendees got ejected from the convention for throwing nuts at a black CNN camerwoman while saying something to the effect of, "This is how we feed the animals"?
kathy, Are you in a position to inquire about that "like"? I get the sense that many of the women in the party haven't thought carefully about what their world would be like, really, were all of those GOP dreams fulfilled. Obviously, from the camera pans last night, a good many are post-menopausal -- don't need no stinkin' reproductive rights. [Please someone assure me it hasn't come to that].
Sir C, How was Christie ? Mr. Pierce has your answer, "The Demonstrable Lie, Demonstrated", to which I have little to add. Except that while he thought Ann was "sweet", I did not.
nancy -- politics is one of those things best left alone for the greater family good. my cousin actually is strong and smart -- but 2 family gatherings ago, she got a blinding migraine when her husband tried to boss me about how to cook corn, and i thought he was joking and threw him out of the kitchen. her husband is a cowboy + chamber of commerce guy; the other cousins informed me he wasn't joking about wanting total control.
anyway, the unpleasantness was never mentioned publicly. cousin-in-law and i reached detante at a later gathering, about his total ownership of the BBQ and my devotion to his girls.
my best hope is that my cousin will go the rational way in the ballot box. every one of her first cousins is a woman who cares about personal autonomy; same with her mom, and the sisters-in-law she cares about.
Its good to see humanity progress in some endeavors, even if our politics seem to be regressing.

I'd love to hike up that mountain, but given the Martian atmosphere, I think I'd get a bit too winded practically before I started.

Possibly interesting to the attorneys here:

Just a link to a Nate Silver post about Michigan polling.

l-t c,
Nice pic.
I find Nate to be a constant source of sanity amidst all of the polling madness.
He keeps me on a relatively even keel.

Those Martian rocks look pretty sedimentary to me. Obviously there was water there once! Who needs molecules?

nancy,
I laid down in my blogger duties and watched Covert Affairs instead. I just couldn't stand the thought of watching.
How was Christie? I got the sense reading between the lines on Morning Joe that he was less than overwhelming.
