I believe their plan was to change "In all thy sons command" to "in God we thost command" or something crazy like that.

No, it was not "in God we thost command". Not even close. But it is remarkable how few women wanted the anthem to be gender neutral. Anyway, gold medals are what the masses want, and we've got 'em by the baker's dozen and more.
