To build on Litbrit's excellent post, if Congressional Democrats were really the bunch of liberals they're accused of being, they'd milk the Defund ACORN Act for everything it's worth - running to every TV network, even Fox News, to talk about it, start calling it the Defund [Halliburton, GE, Boeing] Act, writing columns and op-eds, holding hastily-scheduled town halls in their districts this weekend, daring conservatives to show up and protest their favorite defense contractors.
If I were Rep. Grayson, after this bill is inevitably vetoed or repealed or otherwise rendered completely ineffective, I'd introduce legislation that requires every government contractor charged with wrongdoing to immediately pay back 1% of the total contract in order to fund a new Cabinet-level Department of Combatting Waste, Fraud and Abuse.
Even though Congressional Democrats by and large are not liberals, if they were smart they'd do pretty much the same thing while privately assuring their corporate masters that it's all just a bunch of grandstanding to score points against Republicans, to not worry about the government gravy train perpetually directed toward defense contractors.
But they're neither liberal nor smart, so they'll hush this bill up as quickly as they can, leaving the GOP's unwarranted attacks against ACORN unanswered and the true criminal corporations of this nation unaccountable.
