The real problem with adapting any of the Foundation books into movies isn't Roland Emmeritch, it's that they weren't very good books. They start off ok, but after a while it becomes clear that Hari Seldon is just a particularly egregious Mary Sue: we get it, Isaac. You're smart and good looking and tough and incredibly altruistic.
