No Principles

Wasn't just a few years ago that Republicans were blaming the CIA for giving Bush "faulty intelligence" about Iraq?  Weren't Republicans pushing, for a little while at least, the idea that our involvement in Iraq was all the CIA's fault?

But now,

"I think it's a tragedy that we are seeing this massive attack on our intelligence community which has kept us safe," Sen. Kit Bond of Missouri said in an interview on NBC's "Today" show where he questioned why Pelosi was "going after the agency and calling them liars."

How interesting to see such a change of heart.  Just a few years ago, the CIA was the cause of all our problems, but now, they've "kept us safe."

The Republicans in Congress are really abhorrent people.

My impression is that Sen. Bond's political ethics are so principles-free they make Sen. Specter look like Mother Theresa.

Or maybe it's like the Principle of the Circumlocution Office, in Little Dorrit "How NOT to Do It."

And of course "We are good, and any thing we do is good, and they are Bad and do only bad things".

And these are coupled with the "Humpty Dumpty Principle": "When I use a word, it means just what I choose it to mean".

the problem is that republicans think that a principle is some son of a bitch what runs a school.

If only the Democrats in Congress weren't nearly as abhorrent people. ...

Oh God, janinsanfran, don't get me started on that.
