- Wow, Condoleezza Rice-- stupid, disingenuous, and morally, legally and and historically illiterate. Condi makes the claim that Al Qaeda was a greater threat to the U.S. than NAZI Germany. How the fuck did this woman get to be Secretary of State? Oh right -- she worked for a moron. In the attached clip she really comes off as patronizing, clueless and Nixonian.
- Hoot Smalleys? -- Answer: What is what Carrie Prejean was suffering from before the Miss California organization came to the rescue.
- Stupid, stupid, evil, and evilly stupid or stupidly evil.
- As Roy points out, conservatives, personified by tax-payer funded parasite Glenn Douchenozzle Reynolds, are so twisted now that they are openly rooting for the collapse of the American automobile industry.
- Someday I am going to punch the shit out of Mickey Kaus. No really I will. If he shows up at Netroots I'll do it for an audience. I might even slap his goats.
- Oh, and stupid, really, really stupid.
And just added:
- Because Obama really doesn't have enough on his plate. (Justice Souter is retiring.)
- Bankers cram one down our throats: A close friend of mine had a meeting with Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin late this afternoon and thought he was out of it, disengaged and uninterested in the substance of the discussion. I think it might have had something to do with being betrayed by twelve of his fellow Democrats, including shiny new star Arlen Specter, in a vote over allowing bankruptcy judges to modify mortgage terms for homeowners in bankruptcy. The banking industry pulled out all of the stops to prevent what many of us see as a common sense approach to alleviating the massive wave of foreclosures. Siding with banks over desperate homeowners was every Republican naturally -- along with Baucus, Bennet, Byrd, Carper, Dorgan, Johnson, Landrieu, Lincoln, Nelson, Pryor, and Tester. This is illustrative of why all of the excitement over 60 Democratic votes is so much blather. Even a leader as smart, effective, and well-liked as Dick Durbin, on a vote against one of the most hated sectors in the country right now, lost twenty percent of his caucus. I understand the virtues of a big tent -- just look at my pants -- but somedays it's pretty hard to stomach having to be in league with these craven assholes.
I just saw the Souter thing elsewhere. Man, I hope he picks someone good.
The bankruptcy thing is one of those political events that makes be pace around angrily, wanting to punch people in the face. Cowards, everyone of them fucking cowards.
I love Dick Durbin though. That guy really is great. He seemed legitimately pissed at his colleagues in his response from the floor. He basically all but accused them of being responsible for the spread of misery in America.
They are. Fuck them.

Rendell and Obama/Biden are gonna campaign for Specter, why?

The only proper response to Kaus is to act as if he doesn't exist.

After Souter, I was just looking at the ages of the Justices.
In 8 years, Stevens will be 96, Ginsburg 83, Breyer 77, And Kennedy and Scalia both 80. Roberts, Alito, and Thomas probably aren't going anywhere, (61, 66, and 68, respectively), but man, we could see a drastically altered Court by the end of this administration (especially if you assume some of these guys want some retirement time).

Rendell & Biden are both personal friends of Specter. Furthermore Rendell has reminded the press that back when Specter was the district attorney of Philadelphia he hired Rendell as an assistant district attorney. (Rendell later on was elected District Attorney himself, then afterwards Mayor of Philadelphia, and then Governor of Pennsylvania, so it isn't difficult to make the case that Rendell owes his career to Specter's hiring of him in the first place.)

The woman doesn't just suffer from CRUD (Cranio-Rectal Uptake Disorder), she may well be Patient Zero.
