“I have been through an experience that I never thought to encounter in my darkest nightmares. Before this ordeal, torture was an abstract word.”
-Binyam Mohamed, British citizen, just released from Guantanamo, where he was tortured. He was also tortured in other countries, under the Bush administration's so-called "exraordinary rendition" program. Was ever a name more apt? Extraordinary for its cruelty and barbarity.
Rep. Bill Delahunt, Democrat from Massachusetts, is urging Eric Holder and the Obama administration to release the full details of Mohamed's detention and torture. Here's hoping millions of Americans do likewise, by flooding their representatives and the White House switchboard with demands for same.
