That's right, real fraud, not the silly stuff people are accusing ACORN of doing. Mark Jacoby fraudulently used a childhood address to register in California so that he could meet that state's residence requirement for signature gatherers.
Mark Jacoby is, of course, a Republican. He was hired by the California Republican party, and several Californians have accused Jacoby and his firm, Young Politial Majors, of illegally changing their party affiliation to Republican. The victims of this fraud were told that they were signing a petition supporting increased penalties for convicted child molesters.
Unlike ACORN, which pays its workers an hourly wage, YPM was contracted to receive money for every Republican registration they produced.
YPM has left a trail of complaints all over the United States. Once again we find that the latest Republican Shrieking Point is a patently false accusation that progressive/Democratic organizations are engaging in the type of activity in which the Republicans themselvs so enthusiastically participate.
The psychological term for this type of behavior is projection -- when you project onto others the very emotions or, in this case, deeds of which you yourself are guilty. Just like all those rightwing types who scream about "family values" and then get caught in smarmy sexual escapades of their own. (Then again, we could just call it hypocrisy and be done with it!)
