Let's start a list of potential policy disagreements between John McCain and Sarah Palin:
- Ledbetter Fair Pay Act (McCain against, Palin unknown)
- Employee Free Choice Act (McCain against, Palin unknown)
- Barack Obama's energy plan (McCain against, Palin partially for)
- The Bridge to Nowhere (McCain against, Palin for it until she was against it)
- Global Warming (McCain believes its man-made, but doesn't seem interested in doing anything about it, Palin won't say it's man-made).
Extra credit to anyone who can find more. I'll add them to the post.
I'm sure she disagrees with one of McCain's immigration positions -- gotta keep those French Canadians out!

As far as I can tell, she has no position whatsoever on immigration. All I can find are articles about how she's a blank slate.
I'm wondering how often we'll see Wes Clark types of problems from her -- there's some issue area that she's just not familiar with (like Clark on abortion in 2003) so she says things that an experienced national politician wouldn't.

Okay, three different people have now told me that Palin looks exactly like Tina Fey and that they expect the latter to show up on SNL impersonating the former.

Neil,
Wes Clark -- that was my first thought. It's pretty hard to throw an amateur into the crucible of national politics and expect them to perform well, no matter their intelligence or familiarity with policy issues.
My gut sense is that Palin is not ready for this kind of exposure. It will be intersting to see.

Palin opposes stem cell research, while McCain supports it.
Palin does not believe abortion should be allowed in cases of rape and incest, while McCain does (although it's not very important to him).

Palin believes in using e-mail to pressure public safety commisioners into firing her ex-brother-in-law. McCain has no stated position on this issue.

Palin sides with big mining interests over clean water and preservation of salmon habitats, even when she has to break the law to do so. McCain likes to pretend he's a strong environmental advocate.

UmMMmM! Earmarks... McCain hates them... whereas within the last two years... Palin attempted to acquire over $194 Million worth of earmarks for her hometown and the state of Alaska...
But then again... I guess if one were to look at things from the Republican's point of view... McCain converted her into being a Maverick for her standing up to herself... and denouncing the earmarks she wanted for her hometown and state...
HmMmmM!
