At the health care wonk panel, Dr. Giuseppe Del Priore goes through the administrative nightmares his office faces with insurance companies. One solution, he's found, is to have his patients come to his office and call their insurer's customer service line. Usually, the insurer claims the problem preventing them from paying for treatment is some sort of administrative mistake by the doctor's office. But when the patient unmutes the doc who's listening in, "they flip through the pages, and say ... shit, this isn't in the script".
Dr. Del Priore, it should be noted, works primarily with cancer patients. But just keep telling yourself this is the best health care system in the world.
