Chris Bowers lets us know that if Barack Obama wins, Rep. Jan Schakowsky is a possible Senate replacement. Just looking over her wikipedia page, there's a lot to like -- supporter of Medicare for All, outspoken war opponent, vocal critic of Blackwater, possibly the most progressive member of the Illinois delegation. And while I disagree with impeachment on tactical grounds, the fact that she's supported impeaching Dick Cheney suggests that her heart is in the right place. Chris thinks that she'd be a powerful Feingold-style addition to the Senate Democratic caucus. (My hopes are a little more Ted Kennedy, but I take his point.)
The other option, it seems, is Tammy Duckworth, who blew gargantuan sums of DCCC money in losing her Congressional race a while ago. Y'all in Illinois need to be figuring out how to get on Gov. Blagojevich's case about this one, since it appears that he'll be in charge of appointing Obama's successor.
