So, McCain is continuing to play "good cop" and politely asking that the "bad cop", the North Carolina GOP, not air an ad that uses a picture of Bev Purdue, Barack Obama, and Reverend Wright. Obama has had a decent response, which is that as the party's standard bearer, if McCain thinks the ad ought not to be aired, the ad ought not to be aired. But that's just part of the strategy to counter race-baiting; carping about ads isn't going to win Ohio or Pennsylvania or Missouri.
I don't envy the folks on the Obama campaign or at the DNC whose job it is to think about this. It's a tough sort of ad to counter. But it has to be done.
