2008 Super Duper Tsunami Tuesday Primary And Caucus Results Maps & Haiku

Here's one post with all your primary election map needs, and some haiku as well. There are no maps for Kansas, New Mexico, North Dakota, or Alaska, as those states reported results by CD rather than county or town.

AlabamaArizona Arkansas
High polarization
Obama peels off one third
of whites to win big.

Clinton locks in votes
thanks to mail-in balloting.
Barack can't catch her.

Bubba Clinton's Wife
Wins all but the river valley
Good reasons for choice.
CaliforniaColorado Connecticut
Humboldt? Santa Cruz?
Pot smokers for Obama!
Hill big in LA.
Obama wins huge,
but pundits think caucuses
aren't important.
Clinton-Obama
Eerily similar to
Lieberman-Lamont
DelawareGeorgia Idaho
Just three lil' counties.
Can't resist Wayne's World ref': "Hi.
I'm in Delaware"
Two fifths of whites vote
for Obama. "The city
too busy to hate"
You cannot stop the
Obamentum. You can't even
hope to contain it.
IllinoisMassachusetts Minnesota
Obama's "home" state.
Downstate prefers Hillary,
but only a bit.
Clinton runs strong in
Working-class regions. Is it
Town-and-gown conflict?
Not just Twin Cities
go for Barack. Wins easy
in the Frozen North
MissouriNew Jersey New York
Whites more pro-Bama
than in 'Bama, Tennessee,
or Oklahoma.
"Home"-state favorite?
Or yet more blue-collar love?
Clinton wins by ten.
Clinton everywhere.
Brooklyn, City exurbs close
Hard to be surprised
OklahomaTennessee Utah
Oklahoma City
Pink island surrounded by
an ocean of green
Whites strong for Hill
not enough post-racial 'burbs
to get Barack close.
A pretty picture
Barack wins SLC big
Can't discern much else

Wow, what a lot of work, and it's greatly appreciated. Of course it could have been done quicker, cheaper and more directly suited to my idiosyncratic personal needs. Plus ice cream and a pony. Many people will be poring over these quite a bit, I'm sure.

One issue: In Firefox, the display cuts off the rightmost column of maps. It looks fine in Internet Explorer 7.

I was kind of amazed to learn this, but you may wish to correct your Washington state map, since it appears that Obama won all counties. HRC was given one due to a tabulation/transcription error

or if that cuts off and I can link, then here is a link
Great job, Nick, and thanks for it.

I think I've fixed the CSS/display issues. And thanks for the bit about Washington State.

WOW, Nick, brilliant work (and I love the poet's touch--thank you for that).

*huge round of applause*

Yes, Nick, your tweaking fixed the display issue in Firefox 2.0.0.12. and the fix persists at all browser widths.

Thanks again.

This is awesome work. This reader is very, very grateful to you. I imagine others are as well. And the poetry is, if not quite transcendent, pretty great. Seriously, thanks.

You really haven't slept for days have you? Whatever were you drinking last night? I've got to get me some that.

This is, by far, the coolest thing I've seen in primaries coverage.

I especially liked the Delaware and Georgia haikus, too.

p.s. Do you take requests? I would love to see how the Democrats Abroad Global Primary looks on a map!

I don't know if there's going to be any sort of regional report for Democrats Abroad.

Chaz: I slept plenty over the past week ... I just held of publishing these until all at once.

These are terrific. Can you update with more recent primary results, as well? (Specifically, I think you could get some pretty awesome puns out of the "Potomac Primary" results).
