Study: False Statements Preceded War
WASHINGTON - A study by two nonprofit journalism organizations found that President Bush and top administration officials issued hundreds of false statements about the national security threat from Iraq in the two years following the 2001 terrorist attacks.
It can't be said enough: well, duh! Nor can it be said enough that yes, it has been conclusively proven, over and over and over and over and over that not only did Bush and his minions make statements that were objectively "false," they made statements that were known to be false, were intentional lies written and said in such a way as to sound "truthy" and to provide plausible deniability for at least as long as they needed to get us into a war with Iraq.
These people - Bush, Cheney, Rice, Powell and others - lied to American citizens. They lied, and this is incredibly important, to Congress, they lied to the soldiers they were dooming to injury and death in order to make their private fantasies come true. That's why people like me are angry. And that's why people who insist upon supporting this rogue regime, who insist upon spreading their lies and making new ones of their own are worthy of no respect at all. They aren't worthy of having the privileges and responsibilities of being American citizens. They're cowards, morally reprehensible scum who believe a lie because it's convenient, because it suits them.
And because the Bush Administration's lies suit so many people, because they provide a twisted comfort and order to their world and, not insignificantly, because they produce profits for so many of this nation's elite, George Bush, Dick Cheney and their cabal of liars and traitors walk free, and will continue to walk free, and will be allowed not only freedom but money, prestige and accolades until they finally succomb to what, if this world was one of justice, would have claimed them long ago.
But, Stephen, you have to keep it all in perspective -- none of them lied about getting a blowjob.
Eyes on the prize young man.
